Bio
I was born in 1969 and grew up in Bexleyheath, Kent. I took a foundation art course at Camberwell Art College in 1988 where I decided to become an artist and subsequently graduated from Central / St Martins with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting in 1991.
My art is a visual / rhythmic dance between reality and imagination. It is a mental playground for subconscious processes, a space where possibilities and potentials for life can arise and an exploration of our spectrum of consciousness. The images I produce stem from real life experiences mixed with the subjects of Science, Art and Psychology.
My genre of painting is a figurative / narrative approach, a rich blend of Expressionism, Surrealism and Pop Art with a strong influence from the world of Animation.
I work in a series of approximately a dozen images at a time with a variety of mediums. I create art in a bright, bold, loose and colourful style, with as little reference as possible and with a serious sense of fun! This method gives me the freedom to express myself at the speed I enjoy and the time to alter my initial ideas into more dynamic and meaningful images.
